I have practiced psychoanalytic psychotherapy with patients from 0 to 90 years of age. I continue to train young psychoanalysts, and give lectures all over the world, now on zoom, as well as training seminars. A sixth book is in preparation.

I was born in Geneva, where I did my studies, psychoanalytic training and research for the Swiss National Science Foundation. I moved to Paris at the age of 35, where I spent most of my career, had and raised two children, and trained several generations of psychoanalysts. I have a particular interest in the structuring of the conceptual world of my discipline, in the evolution of mentalities and identities in the contemporary world, and in the role of the psychoanalyst in society. I’ve been living in Chandolin for ten years now, where I’ve rediscovered the Alpine environment of my childhood – I’ve spent time here with my family and others since I was born – where I experience the mix of solitude and solidarity of village life on a daily basis, the beauty and ruggedness of the high mountains, and where I’m perfectly at ease, in the still pure air, to cultivate my creative receptiveness on a daily basis and experience the passing of time.
